Working with Grammy's recipes reminded me of one of my favorites. I don't think anyone ever wrote it down. "Grampy" for my generation is Carl Fritz Klotz. As with all corn on the cob, this method works best with freshly picked New Jersey corn.
Start the coals n the grill.
Clean the husk and hair from as many ears of corn as you want. (This is my least favorite part -- it always makes me itch for hours afterwards.)
Slather each ear with mayonaise and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Wrap the ears individually in foil.
Place the wrapped ears in the coals while you grill your hamburgers or whatever.
My recollection is that the corn and the hamburgers took about the same time to grill.
